Curriculum Vitae

Alexandra LEX-BALDUCCI obtained her PhD at the Institute of Chemistry and Technology of Organic Materials at Graz University of Technology (Austria) in 2008. The subject of her thesis was the synthesis of novel functionalized monomers, homo- and co-polymers, and the modification of inorganic surfaces with thin layers. In 2008 she joined the group of Martin Winter at the Institute of Physical Chemistry at the University of Münster (Germany) for a postdoctoral fellowship. During this time her research activity was concentrated on the field of lithium batteries with the focus on the development of novel electrolyte systems. From 2009 till 2015 she was the scientific leader of the independent junior research group “Gel polymer electrolytes based on newly synthesized homo- and block-copolymers for lithium-ion batteries” funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) at the MEET Battery Research Center at the University of Münster (Germany). Within this junior research group she was working on the development of new gel polymer electrolytes with both, high conductivity and good mechanical stability. Next to the research activities in the field of liquid and gel polymer electrolytes she was also engaged in the study of new ceramic separator materials for application in electric vehicles. In 2015 she joined the group of Stefano Passerini at the Helmholtz-Institute Ulm (HIU)/ Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) (Germany) where she was working on polymer electrolytes for lithium-ion and lithium sulfur batteries. In 2016 she moved to the group of Ulrich S. Schubert at the University of Jena (Germany) where she is working in the field of organic batteries with the focus on “polymer electrolytes for organic batteries”. Since 2017 she is in the coordinating team of the Center for Energy and Environmental Chemistry Jena (CEEC Jena). She is co-author of more than 25 scientific papers in international journals, 7 patents and one book chapter.

At the Organic Battery Days Dr. Alexandra Lex-Balducci is going to give a lecture on „Gel electrolytes for organic batteries“.
